SPECULUMS
Fast Acting Membrane
  • What is Adnexa Amnion?
Adnexa is a placental derived dehydrated amnion membrane used to treat various ocular surface disorders such as; dry eye, recurrent corneal erosion, pterygium, persistent epithelial defects of the cornea, acute chemical burns, conjunctival scarring, and more.
  • How does Amnion work?
Adnexa can function in the eye as a basement membrane substitute or as a temporary membrane that typically dissolves within 3-5 days. It can promote epithelial healing on the surface of the eye with its anti-inflammatory and anti-scarring growth-factors.
  • How is Adnexa Amnion stored?
Adnexa is stored at room temperature with up to a 5 year shelf-life.
  • What are other benefits of Adnexa Amnion?
    1. Extracelluar Moisture: Preserves optimal moisture levels while maintaining tissue structure and biologic integrity. 2. Omni-directional: It can be applied in either direction, with no orientation issues. 3. Anti-microbial: Studies have shown ocular membranes to be bacteriostatic against certain bacteria in-vitro. The graft also acts as a temporary mechanical barrier on the ocular surface. 4. Immunosuppressive: Retains the natural features that allow the body to suppress immune responses & excessive inflammation.
